Huntington, Indiana – After the House voted on the Indiana Constitution Property Tax Cap Amendment on Monday, January 11 2010, a vote that passed by a margin of 75-23, the Indiana State Republican Party issued a press release criticizing Democrat Trent Van Haaften’s No vote. What the State Republican Party failed to do was bring attention to Republican Dan Leonard’s same No vote. To highlight the hypocrisy of the State Republican Party’s attempt to minimize Rep. Leonard’s vote and to “protect their own”, Ron Fusselman issued a statement using the identical language used in the party’s press release. Ron Fusselman replaced his name for the Republican candidate and Rep. Dan Leonard’s name for the Democrat. Expecting a response, although not from another State Representative, Matt Bell obliged as seen below:
"Let me begin by saying that I am a strong supporter of State Representative Dan Leonard, and that I intend to actively and vocally support his re-election as Representative of the 50th House District. I do not know candidate Fusselman well, but by issuing this statement he has significantly damaged his reputation and standing. By all appearances, candidate Fusselman's "statement" posted this morning on this website is stolen word for word from a press release issued yesterday by State Representative candidate Wendy McNamara. Ms. McNamara's statement can be found at the link below:

It is more than fair to debate a vote any Representative makes and it is every citizen's right to comment publicly on votes made by their elected Representatives. However, a candidate for high office should exhibit far more integrity than this blatant and clear act of plagiarism. The people of the 50th District deserve much more from their Representative than the exceedingly poor behavior that has been demonstrated in this statement by candidate Fusselman."
“It’s unfortunate the Leonard campaign has engaged in personal attacks and not addressed the real issue of property tax reform. By voting NO, Leonard has chosen not to let the voters have a say in this important issue. Using my earlier statement to highlight politics as usual in Indianapolis, Leonard clearly has become entrenched in the political elite and lost touch with the voters,” commented Ron Fusselman
That's great fantastic! I think your blog will brought the house down, I reading your article with much more pleasure. Thanks a lot indeed.
